Since the end of World War II in 1945, humanity has actively sought to build a better world, with numerous leaders and governments striving to prevent another global catastrophe. However, this optimistic outlook does not exclude the presence of warmongers; indeed, many bloodthirsty individuals occupy high-ranking positions within powerful nations, including elements of the deep state. Today, the threat level is arguably higher than ever.
Symptom 1:
Gaza: On the day Hamas launched its surprise attack against Israel in Gaza, it appeared that extensive preparations had been made beforehand. Within hours, over 1,200 Israelis had been killed, including civilians and military personnel. Israel responded swiftly, mobilizing its entire military apparatus—ground forces, air force, navy, and intelligence agencies—supported by its international allies, particularly the United States.
The Israeli Air Force launched widespread airstrikes, saying it was targeting Hamas strongholds, often without specific regard for civilian casualties, while the navy deployed unprecedented missile barrages along Gaza’s coast. Artillery units were positioned along the border to reinforce the offensive.
Western media outlets shifted their coverage to live updates on Israeli casualties caused by Hamas, with some outlets fabricating content to sensationalize the events, including false claims of children being beheaded.
Most Western leaders quickly visited Israel to demonstrate solidarity with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, which exploited the crisis to justify broader military campaigns. With political backing secured, Israel proceeded with indiscriminate killings and destruction—shedding blood without regard for international accountability. Currently, more than 70,000 people, mostly civilians, have died, and close to 200,000 are injured. Starvation measures have been weaponized against Gaza’s population, while Western media largely ignore or downplay Israel’s aggressive tactics. Major powers like the U.S. and Germany continue supplying advanced weaponry and diplomatic support, emphasizing military aid over diplomatic efforts. These developments reveal a world increasingly viewed as heartless, polarized, and lacking moral direction.
Disbanding USAID
When U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the suspension of U.S. support programs for other countries in need, many initially believed he meant to cut political initiatives. They were mistaken. The U.S. government ceased all funding aimed at critical humanitarian needs—such as emergency medical support for children with life-threatening illnesses, maternal and infant health programs, HIV/AIDS treatment, tuberculosis care, and vaccination campaigns against measles and polio—leaving millions of vulnerable people without aid.
Racial Attacks and Discrimination.
The U.S. president has repeatedly made xenophobic remarks attacking entire continents. Notably, in 2018, President Donald Trump described Africa with the derogatory term ‘shithole,’ a statement he later denied; however, he used the same derogatory term to the continent last week while some of his supporters were chanting and clapping. Trump’s rhetoric became increasingly offensive, targeting Somali Americans despite data showing that nearly 95% of Somalis in the U.S. are lawful residents, with more than half born in the country.
He also issued sweeping bans excluding all nationals from third-world countries from entering the U.S., further tightening immigration restrictions. During the election campaign in 2024, Trump disparaged Haitians as ‘Dog and Cut Eaters,’ while he blamed Spanish-speaking societies as ‘gangs for crime and drug dealers, and he referred to Black Americans as scammers, exemplifying blatant racial prejudice—
Attacks on Caribbean and Eastern Pacific Sea Routes.
The U.S. has declared a ‘war on drugs’ in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific, supporting military operations that claim to combat illegal trafficking. However, bipartisan congressional reports suggest that some strikes may have resulted in civilian casualties and even the killing of survivors during secondary attacks—though Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has denied such allegations. Credible reports and investigations indicate that U.S. military forces have issued orders resulting in survivors’ deaths, further fueling accusations of unjustified violence.
EU’s Refusal to Sanction Israel:
A significant sign of human decline is the European Union’s ongoing reluctance to impose sanctions on Israel. Despite repeated violations of international law, including expanding settlements in the West Bank, violating the October ceasefire, and escalating land seizures, most EU member states continue to delay meaningful action. They confine themselves to vague verbal condemnations, avoiding concrete measures that could pressure Israel to halt its controversial policies.
UAE and Regional Involvement.
Another concerning development is the United Arab Emirates’ involvement in recent atrocities in Sudan, especially in the city of El-Fashir, Darfur. Civilians have suffered killings, injuries, displacement, and sieges. Historically, the UAE supported conflicting factions in Sudan; however, witnessing the brutality and civilian toll, at least one faction severed ties with Abu Dhabi. Currently, the UAE openly supports the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been implicated in atrocities. The international community has yet to intervene effectively, and debates over strategic interests continue without decisive action.
Conclusion:
All these signs point to a possible breakdown of humanity’s moral standards. When authoritarian or tyrannical leaders gain power, international norms weaken considerably—undermining the United Nations, human rights organizations, and journalism. This ethical erosion threatens a future dominated by violence and injustice, overshadowing diplomacy and compassion.
