GENEVA — The Saudi Mission to the UN hosts a high-level panel on International Humanitarian Law in Geneva. This reinforces the Kingdom’s diplomatic engagement at the United Nations.

Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, attended and addressed the session.
He outlined growing challenges facing the international system, including:

- Escalation of armed conflicts
- Rising civilian suffering
Prince Turki stressed that adherence to international legal frameworks remains essential for global stability.
He warned that replacing the rule of law with power-based approaches risks undermining peace efforts and encouraging impunity.
Prince Turki also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s long-standing commitment to IHL, rooted in Islamic principles emphasizing justice, mercy, and protection of human dignity during conflict.
Saudi Arabia’s Role in Strengthening IHL
The Kingdom has taken several steps to support International Humanitarian Law, including:
- Early accession to the Geneva Conventions
- Participation in the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to IHL
